Food in my family

Dear Patrick,
Thank you for your E-Mail you have sent me.
I hope you still know that you are coming to Austria next week.
So it's important for you to know the typical Austrian food and the Austrian table manners.

First I wanna tell you something about the table manners and the eating times in our familiy.
If you wake up in the morning breakfast is normally at 8.00 am. You can take the cocoa, or the salbei-tea, which my mum makes every morning. There is also orange-juice and many other kinds of juices.
For food you can have toast.

You should know that I have a crazy eating habit, which is eating Wiener Schnitzel very often if you know this.
Wiener Schnitzel is a typical food in Austria. It's traditionally made of veal but you are also allowed to use pork or some other kinds of meat.
You also get healthy food like soups.
But you should also know that we often eat with my grand-parents. They allways talk about healthy food! :D

But you shouldn't forget that in Austria we have important table manners.
One of the most important is that if you have finished eating you should put the knife and the fork parallel on your plate. If you are not eating at "home" you there are many other eating habits.
One of them is that if the waiter asks you if the food was good you allways have to say yes.
And for the adults it's usual to give the waiters a small tip.
While you're eating, you should hold the fork in the right hand and the knife in your left hand.

So let me come back to the eating times at home.
We normally have lunch at 6.00 pm. We often go to a restaurant like La Roma or Riva. This are important restaurants on the main square in Perg.

For dessert we often have some cakes like Sachertorte or Apfelstrudel. This also typical Austrian food you can get if you go to a restaurant in Austria.
But you shouldn't eat to much of it if you don't want to become fat :D

So what are your table manners and your typical food in your home country like? :)

I'm looking forward to seeing you next week.
I hope you will not forget to come to Perg.

Have a good flight!
Your Simon!
