Foreign Internship

Hey guys!

We have recently been talking about the advantages and disadvantages of a foreign internship at school because a few persons of my class are going to work for two weeks at a company in Dublin, the Irish Capital, in April. That’s why our teacher asked us to point out our opinion of such an internship and the motivation why we wheter go there or not.

In my mind the most important advantage is that you gain so much experience and you also improve your English. Another point is that you definitely meet new people you can talk to. But for me, I decided for staying at home and working for an Austrian company those two weeks. That’s because I have never done something similar before. I was and I am still very afraid of working alone with no classmates for a company in a foreign country. Well, that is the reason why I prefer to stay in Austria despite the big number of advantages of a foreign internship. But I agree with all other opinions on that topic because I also think that such a project is important for us students and the entrepreneurs of the companies who are taking part at this project.

So, what is your opinion on this topic. Tell me in the comment section below!

Corporate Social Responsibility

Bildergebnis für csrHey guys,
We have recently been talking about CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility – at school. CSR is how companies manage their business processes to produce an overall positive impact on society. It covers sustainability, social impact and ethics. In our last English lesson, we listened to six entrepreneurs giving their opinion on this topic. I thought you might be interested in CSR because.
Basically, what the speakers say is, that CSR can have many positive impacts on a company and in their opinion, it is important to want to be social responsible because it is mentioned that in the past a few consumers questioned this topic arguing that the entrepreneurs just want to improve their public image. It is also mentioned that companies which are social responsible are attractive to employees. But one entrepreneur argued that CSR is not for every company because some businesses are just not prepared to deal with social issues. Moreover, it is a cost to the business to handle social issues in the society and it also means that there is a lot of additional work for the employees.
I think that Austrian business people would give similar answers and statement on this polarizing topic because Corporate Social Responsibility is very necessary in today’s modern age also beyond the EU. Well, I think that donating money to NGOs and using fair trade products is the first step to be social responsible but make sure that your company is prepared for a change.

What do you think about being social responsible. Tell me in the comment section below.
Bye.

Business etiquette

Hey guys!

We have recently been talking about business etiquette at school. Business etiquette is about building relationships with other people. It is not only about rules but it's about providing basic social comfort and creating an environment where others feel comfortable, this is possible through better communication. I chose the three most important business etiquettes:

Bildergebnis für business etiquette1. Always say "Please" and "Thank you": This simple gesture shows that you're polite but it also sets the tone for any further business relationship.

2. Don't walk into someone's office unannounced!: Knock on the door or say hello if the door is open. Otherwise it is really disrespectful to assume that you have the right to interrupt the work of other people.

3. Be on time!: In our culture it is definately necessary to be punctual because it shows others that you value their time.

All in all there are much more business rules but in my opinion those three are probably the most important ones. Furthermore they are a first step for a further business relationship. I hope you liked my posting.
